Here at the Ewin ELC we are fortunate to be a part of a vibrant tight knit community. The relationships the educators, children and families are able to build with each other as well the broader community is something we encourage and promote throughout the centre. Community engagement is important to us and is encouraged in many different ways.
Within the centre itself we encourage families and the community to help us contribute to our Environmental Sustainability policy by donating goods and recycling items to the 'Creation Station' that can be utilised for imaginative play, art and craft activities and much more.
We have built a positive relationship with the Department of Parks and Wildlife, and often have them come to visit with animals and reptiles. We also collect and freeze Cane Toads which are then taken away for research and testing.
The Miriwoong Language Nest will be visiting us twice per week in 2020 and the aim is to share and promote our local culture with the children. The visits will include cultural experiences such as learning the language, sharing stories, art and dance.
The Ewin ELC is committed member of the East Kimberley Early Years Network which allows local organisations and agencies to work together to reach the best possible outcomes for all children in our community.
Our staff are also committed to giving back to the community with many involved in various community and sporting groups around town.
Families are encouraged and welcomed to spend time in the centre by offering up any skills, talents or interests they may have or helping out around the centre.
